Going On Holiday?
Regulars to BDK’s karaoke side know we often take a bus man’s holiday, with the occasional guest-hosting of karaoke nights in one or two pubs in our favourite resorts in Tenerife and Malta.
So, as well as “Do you have Adele’s/ Rihanna’s/ Bruno Mars’ Â latest track?”, we’re often asked to recommend a good karaoke pub in our favoured resorts.
As you might know, both resorts are very popular with Brits and, after their favourite food preferences, karaoke is the next sought-after form of entertainment in between soaking up the sun and eating, drinking and sleeping (not necessarily in that order).
One place you definitely should check out in Tenerife is the Theatre Bar, in the Garden City area of San Eugenio, not far from the Bouganville Hotel up the hill at the end of Playa de las Americas.
Not big in size, but huge in atmosphere, The Theatre Bar, is run very ably by mine hosts, Dennis and Jackie. Karaoke every night, with the added attraction of selected cabaret spots.
In charge of the karaoke is popular presenter, Dave Tappin, whose fan-base reaches places no others can. A great night is guaranteed, even if you’re not a singer. It’s a must for regulars and newbies alike. You won’t stay a newbie for long, so friendly and welcoming is the clientelle. Some nights are just like old-style family parties.
But, hey, don’t just take our word for it! Check them out online, on Facebook. You’ll see for yourself how popular they are.
Malta also has many karaoke venues. We’ve been to several around the island and, depending on where your hotel is situated, you’re seldom far from at least one pub offering up-to-date karaoke.
Our favourite is near Paceville, the “lively” area according to brochures. This tends to mean nightclubs. But you don’t need to be into nightclubs to head that way to The Scotsman Bar on Triq San Gorg.
Again, not a big pub, but the hosts, Dave and Julie, are fantastic at making you feel part of the “family” of karaoke and they have a solid base of regulars, both locals and holiday-makers, who head for the Scotsman as soon as they’ve dumped their cases in their rooms! Another great night of karaoke is guaranteed. They’re also up-to-date with all their music. And the food (day-time) is fantastic!
